We are pleased to say that Outdoor Gourmet introduced the original cedar grilling plank in 1998. At Outdoor Gourmet, we are very proud of our product. We insist that all of our grilling planks be completely organic and 100% pure and natural.

Our cedar mill is strategically located in the heart of western red cedar’s (Thuja Plicata) botanical range. The environmental cost of obtaining our raw material, measured in fossil fuel consumption, is very low… the Pacific Northwest is where cedar grows. All phases of manufacturing and packaging happen in our Sandpoint, Idaho facility.

We obtain our raw material in a way that respects the environment. Instead of cutting trees down, we reclaim the low-grade lumber produced by other local mills. This grade of cedar is destined to be burned as fuel wood. We carefully cut around the defects to produce our beautiful product. This gleaning process is a lot like cutting a bad spot out of an apple or pear that yields otherwise perfect fruit.
